Social & Emotional Support Update: 6/19/20

Parker’s Social & Emotional Support group has reviewed the California Department of Education’s document, “Stronger Together: A Guidebook for the Safe Reopening of California’s Public Schools.” Using this information as a guide, we are developing a comprehensive response program to address the specific social and emotional needs of our Parker community, including the following:

• Staff training regarding basic mental health and social and emotional learning.

• Common classroom practices to promote community building and psychological safety, with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Division specific social-emotional lessons and activities to build communication skills and peer support.

• Community wellness practices to promote ongoing connection and monitor the needs of individuals in the Parker community, including faculty, students and families.
